Rayed AlGhamdi is a full professor in the Department of Information Technology at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at King Abdulaziz University. He holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science Education, as well as a master's and a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technologies from Griffith University in Australia.
Prof. AlGhamdi has extensive experience in education and learning, having contributed to the design of interactive e-learning courses and the development of academic curricula while enhancing modern teaching strategies. He has also held various academic and administrative positions, including serving as the Head of the Executive Master’s Program in Information Technology, E-Learning Coordinator, Summer Training Coordinator, and a member of curriculum development and academic accreditation committees.
He played a key role in developing the FORCE Strategy, which enhances the adoption of Learning Management Systems in higher education programs. This strategy earned him the KAU President’s Award for Excellence and Innovation in E-Learning in 2017 and 2019. The strategy was later expanded to cover the entire IT curriculum, leading to its recognition as one of the best scientific success stories at the university in 2019. Additionally, he played a crucial role in the smooth transition to e-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the department receiving the KAU President’s Award in 2020 for excellence in managing educational processes during the pandemic.
His research focuses on online teaching and learning, AI in education, technology adoption, the IoT in healthcare, and data analysis using artificial intelligence and deep learning.
